The Riders’ Challenge is a friendly competition between riders to see who can raise the most money for Main Stay. Funds raised by the riders will go towards animal care expenses and purchasing a new horse for the program.
Are You Ready to Take the Challenge?
The 2023 Main Stay Riders’ Challenge begins Monday, August 7th and ends Saturday, August 26th. Horses have been an integral part of our history and this continues today in our current culture. This year’s theme, Horses in Stories, will explore a wide variety of horses from mythology through current movies and literature and we know you will learn some fun information that you never knew about them!
Our Goal is to Raise $15,000
It takes a team of extraordinary horses to support our riders and it is increasingly difficult to find appropriate horses as the demand and prices have skyrocketed to purchase horses as well as the care needed to keep them happy and healthy.
Our aging herd and horses with health issues make it even more critical to bring new horses in and ensure our current ones remain able to partner with you at the farm. Last year, expenses for Chip’s surgery for his bone fracture and costs post-surgery were over $3,000. Total animal expenses incurred were close to $80,000 including veterinarian, farrier, feed, supplements and additional care.

We are asking each rider to raise at least $200 to help us reach this goal. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 money earners raising $200 or more. Every participating rider will receive a 2023 Riders’ Challenge t-shirt.
