Guided by our mission to enrich mind, body, and spirit through powerful connections with horses, animals, and nature, we served 725 individuals across six counties in Illinois and Wisconsin in 2025, creating inclusive spaces where participants of all ages and abilities could feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Who We Served
In 2025, Main Stay welcomed participants ranging from young children to older adults, supporting individuals with social/emotional, autism spectrum, physical, and cognitive needs through our programs.
Our services reached families and organizations across McHenry, Lake, Kane, and Cook counties in Illinois, as well as Kenosha and Walworth counties in Wisconsin.
Programs included:
- Adaptive Riding & Horsemanship
- Equine & Animal-Assisted Learning
- Saddle Up / Horsemanship
- Vocational Student Programming
- Farm Experiences & Community Events
- Harness the Power of Your Team
Each program is designed to foster confidence, connection, and personal growth, often in ways that traditional settings cannot.
As one parent shared:
“From the minute we walked through the doors we felt seen, included, and accepted. My child is medically complex, but she feels limitless when she rides.”
Powered by Volunteers
Our mission would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers.
In 2025:
- 125 volunteers
- Contributed 9,255 hours
- Providing an estimated $321,981 in budget relief
That time represents far more than numbers, it reflects thousands of moments of encouragement, safety, patience, and care.
As one volunteer beautifully put it:
“It truly is a blessing that I found Main Stay. Or maybe I should say Main Stay found me.” 2025 Impact Report
Financial Transparency
Main Stay remains committed to responsible stewardship, transparency and financial accountability.
For Fiscal Year 2025:
- Total Income: $1,381,049
- Operating Expenses: $1,386,265 (excluding non-cash depreciation of $181,590)
Funding came from a diverse mix of grants, contributions, fundraising events, and program fees with 72% of operating expenses directly supporting programs, ensuring the majority of resources go straight to the individuals we serve.
Stronger Together
We are deeply grateful for the schools, agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations who partnered with us throughout the year. These collaborations expand access to our program services and allow us to meet individuals where they are emotionally, socially and physically.
Our Impact, Made Possible by You
Every lesson, connection, and milestone in 2025 was made possible by the generosity of our donors, volunteers, partners, and community supporters. Your belief in Main Stay helps create a place where individuals of all abilities feel seen, supported, and empowered.
