Dear Friends,

I am pleased to share Main Stay’s 2020 Impact Report with you. Main Stay’s culture of strength, adaptability and perseverance was never more evident than it was during this past year. Thanks to you, Main Stay was able to provide services to individuals who had limited opportunities (if any at all) to engage in the outside world.

I hope you take pride in what you’ve helped us accomplish this year. As you’ll see from the attached report, Main Stay found creative ways to reach people even when they weren’t able to come to the farm. Our remote learning series was a huge hit with both agencies and schools. Virtual sessions for McHenry High School’s special education summer school included “Create your Own Adventure” where students worked on their creative writing skills. After watching the little herd of animals in the arena via Zoom, Raniah, one of the students wrote, “Raniah and a baby goat sat together as she fed him a warm bottle of milk on the most caring loving, supportive farm”. Proof that whether they are here in-person or virtually, our clients still felt the power of the animals and farm!

Once the stay-at-home order was lifted, Main Stay’s safety protocols allowed those who were able, to return to the farm. Riders and families, along with volunteers, were so excited to be back and to be able to connect with one another. For many, Main Stay was the first place they were able to return to after many months at home.

Thank you for the impact you made at Main Stay this past year—whether it was through time, talent or treasure—we couldn’t have done it without you!
