Program Details
Main Stay’s Harness the Power of Your Team (HPT) offers a unique experiential learning opportunity for you and your group. Through tailored activities that partner your team and our herd of horses and animals, participants are inspired to collaborate, play, and work together towards goals important to your organization.
HPT Participants come to the farm for:
- Strategic Planning Meetings
- Leadership Training
- Staff and Board Retreats
- Organization-wide Training
Participate in a Half Day or Full Day Session
Engaging with the herd creates powerful experiences as they live in the present moment and provide authentic feedback. Experiences can range from a few hours to a full day and include time to reflect on the day’s learnings and translate them back to the organization. Our skilled facilitators work to ensure your session goals are met.
No previous horse experience is required as all activities are done on the ground (not riding) in a safe and supervised environment.
Additionally, through partnership with EarsUpLeadership, certified Equine Assisted Coach Cindy Schwarz is available to join the facilitation team for an additional cost. Cindy brings 25 years of leadership experience in construction, hotel management and various non-profit businesses.

How Do Horses Help with Team Building and Leadership?
Marcy Piekos, Executive Director, Leadership Greater McHenry County (LGMC)“Each June, LGMC Core Program, with 32 leaders from our community, attends a retreat at Main Stay Therapeutic Farm. The sessions are priceless as each participant experiences unique “aha’s” while learning with the help of “littles” and the beautiful, calm horses. The environment offers a safe and serene space for self-reflection and collective wisdom exploration. Staff and facilities are incomparable – LGMC is supremely grateful Main Stay is part of our curriculum.”
