What is the COASTER model?
When creating a session plan, the COASTER model is a format that facilitators can use to structure and run a session and is the model taught in the new PATH Intl. Fundamentals of EAL Certificate course.
COASTER is an acronym for an evidence-based systematic facilitation method created by the HorseWork Education team of Blair McKissock and Debbie Anderson from PATH Intl. center Strides to Success. The COASTER model helps to create a flow within a session as it moves from the beginning, through the activity and concluding the session with time to reflect on learnings at the barn and how it may impact a participant’s daily life.
