We are pleased and proud to share that Jean Maraist, Main Stay’s Director of Programming & Community Engagement, has been named PATH Intl. Credentialed Professional of the Year for Region 7!
PATH Intl. (Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship International) is the credentialing organization for equine-assisted services. Each year member centers can nominate a candidate and a winner is chosen from each region. Region 7 covers Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. The credentialed professional of the year must hold a PATH Intl. certification, demonstrate excellent teaching skills, show compassion and respect for participants and volunteers, demonstrates safe, humane and excellent horsemanship skills and adheres to all PATH Intl. standards and code of ethics.
Having been a certified adaptive riding instructor with Main Stay for more than 25 years, along with being a licensed occupational therapist and a lifelong equestrian, makes Jean the perfect candidate for region 7 Professional of the Year. Jean has dedicated her life to helping individuals through equine-assisted services. She has not only helped Main Stay grow into the successful program it is today but also has been actively involved in educating individuals and expanding the reach and quality of equine-assisted services on a regional and national level. Regional winners will compete for the national title later in the year.
No matter the outcome, Main Stay and its clients are the real winners who benefit from Jean’s dedication, hard work, and knowledge.
