Please contact us to determine which program is best for you. We can also schedule a time for you to come tour the farm. Then you will need to complete and return appropriate forms. Once a session or lesson spot is available we can get you started. (There is a wait list for the therapeutic riding program).

Our therapeutic riding program generally has a wait list. Please call the office to be added to the list with no obligation. We will ask for some of your basic information and contact you when a space becomes available.

For the safety and health of our horses, clients in the therapeutic riding program may not exceed 200 lbs.

Once a week lessons are private or semi-private depending on the needs of the rider.

Client Handbook will be given to new clients. The handbook includes a lot of helpful information. Closed-toed shoes are required for all programs. Long pants are highly encouraged for riding. A certified helmet is required for mounted activities. Main Stay has helmets that you are welcome to wear for lessons. Horses are prey animals with a flight response, remaining calm and speaking at a regular volume helps an animal know that it is safe around you.

Riding season runs from April-November with an additional winter season in January-March. Riding slots fill quickly, a wait list is available for future clients. Please contact the main office for schedule and fee information and to secure a spot on our rider wait list.

Monthly bills are emailed/mailed and are payable on a net 30 basis. Clients who are experiencing financial difficulties must contact the office to discuss options. If payment is not received, and we haven’t heard from you, session/lesson slots will be put on hold until the financial issue is resolved.

Main Stay operates rain or shine. If extreme weather is expected we will post cancellation information on our Facebook page. Make up classes are not possible due to our full schedule.

Some of our riding horses are donated to Main Stay. Main Stay also seeks grants to purchase appropriate horses. All horses must go through an intensive 30 to 60 day screening process. Our small rescued livestock are accepted as donation only.

We recognize the significant financial burden that our clients face. As such, program fees consistently cover less than 20% of our actual annual costs. Main Stay is committed to offer its services at minimal cost. We continually seek funding opportunities through fundraising events, grants from private foundations and generous individual benefactors. We strive for a well-balanced revenue stream as evidenced by our FY2013 income sources: Fundraising Events 30%, Grants 29%, Private Donations 30%, and Program Fees 11%.

There are many ways to donate. For example: you are welcome to click on a donation icon on this website, mail in a check, make a donation over the phone with a credit card, include us in estate planning, provide a matching donation in cooperation with an employer’s matching funds program, or invite us to submit a proposal through a foundation or grant program.
